Engineering teaches us how to solve difficult problems. But building a strong career, leading cross-functional teams, using new technology well, and creating financial independence require a broader set of decisions than technical training alone usually covers.
Engineer & Beyond is where I share practical frameworks, lessons, and tools for technical professionals who want to grow beyond the traditional individual-contributor path—without abandoning the analytical mindset that made them engineers in the first place.

About Peter Sun
I’m an engineer-turned-program manager with more than a decade of experience working on complex technical and medical-device programs.
At Hospital for Special Surgery, I worked on orthopedic design and analysis, including implant and surgical-instrument development. At BrioHealth, a notable project was the LVAD program, where I worked across functions as a project lead. I’m also a PE and PMP. Those experiences inform the engineering and leadership articles here.
Outside my engineering roles, I enjoy marketing, website development, SEO, business development, and full-stack software development. Some of those interests appear in my digital projects; they give me another lens on how people find and use a product.
When a topic is based on experience, I’ll say so. When it depends on data, assumptions, or outside research, I’ll make that distinction clear. The standard is simple: publish something useful enough that I would send it to a smart colleague.
